Help with AGAE please

I've made it most of the way through this game without any help. I haven't even found the map yet but I've made it to the blue dragon I have to defeat to get through the fire near the end. I can't defeat him. Nothing in my inventory seems to do any damage. Hitting him with a sword ( don't matter which one ) kills me instantly. I tried to go back to the wizards for advice but they don't talk now. I can't go back to the main game because the transporter thingy won't take me back. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You are right. Trying to hurt the dragon kills you instantly. So, do not try to hurt him. Ok, if you will not try to hurt the dragon, what is left to do?

You were told to face the dragon, not to defeat one. So speak to the beast and try not to upset him
