Stuck in EOT

Ive started playing eot now. I have saved the goblin, and gotten the key to the house. 2 houses are burning. It seems like i have to move a rock to get to talk to a wizard. I talk to a man who offers me to go on a trip. When on that trip i am totally trapped. I cant get out of the place. Somebody told me that I needed herbboots. Where do I get those? Am I missing something....again?
