complicated problem

I posted a while back that I can't get Secret of Parizaya to load. I've tried everything including reinstalling my Windows. I don't have any specific question. All I have is a list of facts which may be contributing to my problem. If anyone has an idea I would appreciate some input.

1) My Windows is 'Thai Windows' which means it supports English and Thai.

2) In the installed 'Secret' folder, there are two hidden DOS files. When I open them, they are full of 'invalid directory' and 'bad command or file name' statements. One is for D drive and the other is for C drive.

3) I can get the game to start to load, but it freezes at the same point everytime. I do not get the black screen V1.06 thing. It actually starts to load with the hourglass sand thing.

4) The problem shouldn't be with corrupt files in my original Dink, because I have downloaded the original game again and reinstalled it. I have also played it a bit in order to activate all the Dink files.

Does anyone have any suggestions? This is now a quest for understanding as much as it is a desire to play a new Dink mod.

do you have a dir. in a dir. C:\program files\dink smallwood\secret\secret if so you need to drop 1 of the secrets. also when i extracted mine i just putC:\program files\dink smallwood .not nothing else ity has a path to follow.and on your frontend any have checked play this dmod nothing else. all this helped me good luck.

Wow, you really want to play it don't you? :)

I only know one way, and that's kinda a strange one, but if you are willing to re-install windows for it, than this won't be a problem:

1. Install Dink in the directory (I assume that your hard disk is D:\) D:\Syser\Games\Dink

2. Install Secret of Parizaya in the directory D:\Syser\Games\Dink\Secret

3. Then click on the dos file Secret.bat and if Im right, it will play...

P.S if your hard disk is other than D:\ (maybe C:\) than edit Secret.bat and change all D: into the number of your hard disk

I hope this is useful, if not, I really don't know and maybe someone else knows...

I just checked the Dink Network page and am currently downloading the new version of Secret of Parizaya. If that doesn't work, then I will try your suggestion.

Also, to keep myself from appearing too Dink fanatical, I usually reinstall my Windows every six months or so anyway. It seems to make everything run smoother.

I look forward to playing your game.

The new download was a corrupted file. Can someone please let me know when this has been corrected?
