weird problem
I think this is a bug of DinkEdit, and I don't think it can be fixed, but maybe someone knows the solution to my problem anyhow. When I press [S] when editing the hard box, it saves to dink.ini, right? Well, when I save and quit Dinkedit, and I start it again, it isn't saved! I could save a while ago, but somehow I can't save hardboxes anymore now! Any help??? MANT MANY MANY thanx in advance!

I've had this problem too.  It seems to me, when there is too much SET SPRITE INFO, Dink.INI starts to act funny.  I'm wondering if downloading INIclean would help at all?  Let me know how it goes.

I noticed this problem, too. But sometimes the problem is: if you opened Dink.ini in another Windows program (like WordPad or some other text editer) and use DinkEdit at the same time, DinkEdit won't save any information to Dink.ini. So, be sure that you closed those other programs while using DinkEdit. And sometimes, you might just try to save the hardbox more than once. You can delete the extra saved information on Dink.ini afterwards if you want.

Also, save & restart offten as the editor starts loseing its memory after a while if you make too many changes....

Yes all these help, but won't make a difference if you just have too many set_sprite_info lines in the ini.  I did that once, and had to go through deleting doubles and what i didn't need.  Man that was a biatch.  Have fun ;)

There is a develop program called INIclean (by Paul Pliska) that can do the clean job for you. I don't know if it is completely safe to use. Let's see what Paul would say. ;)

It's completly safe if you keep the unaltered file in case the new one doesn't work. :) Really I'm fairly confident that the program won't mess anything up. But by all means, keep a backup.

Does it just delete lines that appear twice?

It should also look for a seq/frame that has been given 2 different sprite_info's, and the user could choose which one is right (most likely the lower, or more recent one)

Dunno, I just sort what the original had from my stuff, that way if i mess mine up bad, i just go back to the original and do mine again.

It gives you the choice of commenting out or removing the offending lines. If you choose comment it puts "//(clean)" in front of them so you can clearly see what it did. It automatically keeps the lowest one because the game also uses the last one anyway. Also it saves the corrected file as clean.ini so there is no risk of overwriting your old ini by mistake.

Oh ya, not sure if this will work or not...

But dink.ini can only read so many lines, so what if you added more later?  Would it start over writting the first lines like it does in the ini, or could it read more?

hrm....
