1rs or 3rd person dialog?
Okay, that subject probably makes no sense. Here's an example:

I realized in some scripts I wrote I did give dialog options like this:

Ask about trees

Tell him they died

get directions to Fishberg

Say something stupid

Whereas some of the scripts would have given the same options as:

What the deal with the trees?

I'm sorry, they all died.

How do I get to Fishberg?

I like sponges.

I suppose I should be using one system thoughout. Which do you like better? And why?

Another consideration for the 1st person choices... do you have the Dink repeat the choice again, have Dink say it slightly differently, or just assume that the Dink said it?

When the option gives exact words, I assume Dink says it.

You know the funny thing is I never really notice this when playing, but I like the "what's the deal with the trees?" approach better, it feels more like I'm *in* the game then the "Ask about the trees" which feels more like I'm *playing* a game.  Also the first way has more "warmth" I think. :)  But if it means delaying the dmod um I vote for adding quotes as Redink suggested lol :o

Re: 1rs or 3rd person dialog?
Since the first three Monkey Island games were the very first three adventure games I had ever played, and they made good use of the first-person system, and I loved that friggin' series of games, I'd say I prefer the first-person system. =D

I think I did the same thing.  But I just thought of a way to get around it: use quotes around the first person choices, and don't use quotes for the third person choices.

Hrm, i've never thought about this...but i think that my game is entirely 3rd person.  If not, I'm going to make it so, because i know it mostly is, and it should be constant.  Also, there's a lot of instances in my game where you do stuff, for instance if you talk to a corpse you get options like this:

Take a vial of blood

Take a tooth

Those have to be in 3rd person, so everything else might as well be...

As for assuming he said it...i dunno, i prefer the saying it in a different way approach...
