Fiat-Rife trees

I have been whizzing through the game until this came along. I just got the axe, got axe lore or luck or something, and I can't find a tree to cut down to get to north Rife. I could only find a couple of other postss on this, and they didn't really help. Thanks If you can help, and if you can't help...well...thanks anyway.

Make sure the axe is in swing mode and not throw mode. Switch between the 2 modes ny pressing the A key. The tree to chop down is just north west of where the evil minion dude kiled you...

Its a pine tree, along the treeline on Rife. You might have to use a regular axe (other axes might not work), and you have to use it in Swing mode.
