Stone of balance , land of reverance

I think I got all the things I need to get the jewel from mary beauhart. I use the club to knock her out like the walktrough says, but it kills her every time I try it. I have my pack filled with items like it says & have followed the walkthrough to get the other items. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Don't cheat on this level. Get a club and hit her.

Did you use the ultimate cheat at any point in the game to raise your stats? If you did, simply lower them to do this part so you are not so strong that you kill her .
