key in fiat

my key that i got from the flame knight won't open the door to the tower in the south. if i arm it and press ctrl, it just says "this is the key to the tower", but i can't get into the tower. any ideas?

This post confused me at first. Trust me, you will know the flame knight when you meet him, and the burning stone giant isn't him. Um... One of two things. Examine the gold brick or use the key on the gold brick.

yeah, sorry about that. once i posted it i realized that i had put down the wrong thing (got fire knight stuck in my head while searching on the message board for clues for my problem). thanks a bunch!
