RIFE - got the axe, but where's the minion

Hi folks, have done a search through thr board for all things RIFE but it hasn't helped. I have patch H. After I got to the island and found the bed to push, no-one there. Went out and killed a few bugs and slimes and checked again. There was a guy selling the axes. I went off, got 20 spikes returned, have axe! Now what? No other minion appears, no Fire Knight that I can find. I don't see any way to get to that little cabin on the island to the right. Please Help??

Go n.e. to where all the ducks are, by the water. Hope this helps

Went there and killed all the monsters. There's one duck that doesn't move at all - kinda like there's been no brain number attached. I can't see anyone else here, I tried to talk to them with no luck and there's no way to get across the water. is something else suppose to be here? Should I be killing the ducks? I'm afraid it's about 2:15am and my brain isn't workin real well. Slightly more obvious hint please?? SK

Odd that you didn't encounter the minion (you're supposed to encounter him before getting the axe). Oh well. You're new axe is useful in cutting down a certain pine tree.

Wasn't for me either, I was worried I'd be stuck waiting on minion forever. I restarted from a previous save-game, and walked along saying "I have a duck necklace" which worked, and he came. I wonder if it's a hyper boot issue. I love them and wear them all the time. I'm sure I had them on when the minion did not come, but I could not have had them on when I was saying "I have a duck necklace".

Thanks guys, sorry I haven't checked across the weekend. Sorry ReDink, the axe doesn't work on the tree, it just says that I don't think this will cut???!! I definately think I've hit a problem. I'll have to go back and do this again. Pity, I had gained a coupleo f levels. ah well. Thanks for your help. Damn tough DMOD, I really LIKE IT!!
