FIAT Beginning Help Needed

I have found my way into the cave where the fence-building guy lives.  However, I do not have any bombs to get passed that d**n rock.  I know where to buy bombs, but I only have 15 coins - need 20. I talked to the guy in the top level of the hotel and all he said was "Hello."  Where do I get lead? I met the little wizard that will turn my lead into gold, but haven't found any lead to do that with yet.  Need help.  Thanx!
