[sigh] Ok, so I really suck...
Hiya, folks..

Sorry to bother everyone with such a small problem, but I'm new to the game and I'm a bit confused. Maybe I'm just very weak or something, but I /can't/ beat that monster that I need to kill to prove to the wizard that I'm worthy. >_< This is REALLY upsetting me, as I've tried all sorts of tactics.

I guess part of the problem is, I don't know what his health is standing at.. And, does it reset every time I leave the room to heal? (Urgh. Those nuts just don't cut it for heals.) I'm really tryin', here. I just can't seem to kill that thing. I'm sure most of you had little to no trouble killing it, but I'm about ready to uninstall the game because I'm so frustrated. What's the point in me playing the game if, after 2 hours of different tactical warring with that stupid thing, I'm still right where I started? ;(

Holy rusted metal, Batman! I killed the monster! You could knock me over with a feather. ;)

Thanks for the advice and support, you guys. :D

Attack/retreat is the best tactic. And don't leave the screen. You should have increased your strength and/or defense before attempting it. The pole in the middle is useful (while bonca tries to go around it you may eat the nut)

[hrf] That tactic just isn't working for me. x_x But, what I did was started on the d-mod that comes with the download. I'm ready to pull my hair out at this one, as well. :) I can get all but two cameras smashed before the alien mecha thingies kill me. [sigh] Ah, well. I guess if I can't do it, I'm just not cut out for the game.

DON'T GIVE UP NOW! You will be missing out on Dink (& you wouldn't want to do that :0). We all were indoctrinated to Dink the same way you are now, and no, it didn't come easy to all of us.

The bonca's strength resets when you leave the screen but yours doesn't, so don't leave the screen. You might want to kill pillbugs until you level up one, at which time you can increase your strength or your defense.

Good luck--and I don't recommend playing Mystery Island first. You learn alot by playing the original game.

Don't give up!
Yeah, don't give up yet! Practice, build levels, eventually you'll get the hang of fighting in dink. As said before, use obstacles to your advantage, and learn how to attack and retreat.

If things are still too hard, I suggest getting a gamepad. The best one out there is the original Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad or the USB version that's practically the same. They're pretty cheap, and I've found mine to invaluable for quite a number of games.

no dont give up! dink and the dmods are one of the best. if you cant bet something go out and build strenth and power u will magic spells soon to help in the fight. keep defence and strenght kind of even when u choose where to add a point. KEEP DINKING:)
Ok, ok.. ;)

Ok... Here's the deal.

#1 - I know how to attack and retreat. It's my main tactic for fighting everything, 'cause I'm a wimp. ;D But, the pillbugs, as someone called them, don't repop that often. So, after playing for maybe two hours, I'd raised two levels and I still can't beat that thingie. But, I'll try again.

#2 - I have a game pad, but I'm quite sure I don't know how to use it. :( For one, I don't know of a place on the back of my computer that it will even fit.. And, I wouldn't know how to configure the buttons. It's too big for all of the openings on the back of the tower... Anyhow, if it's of any help, it's a Xicat pad.. and I have an intel eMachine. What should I do?
