Burnt Tree = Dungeon or what?

I burnt down a tree, well I burnt down lots after finally geting fire magic (god, I missed burning down trees!) and there was a stairway and dudes down there. Can anyone tell me what I found (inadvertently)? I haven't finished the island of void (I forget the name) so I don't think I'm suppose to be there yet. Just wondering... Thanks.

Do you know what island you did this on? I don't recall a secret dungeon under a tree with people down there.

Yeah. (I tried not to say much so I wouldn't spoil this for anyone.) All they wanted was to kick my butt I think.
