In the air dungeon or whatever...what does the little scroll mean 'you can cross if you have faith'? And i have turned on the little red thing so....what do i do?

Well, it seems that doesn't want to work..

OK, on the screen with the two walkways (one to a save machine, the other to a message), there is a gap of air between them. Go in that.
