Are ultimate weapons necessary?
Is it possible to beat FIAT, the final boss, without ultimate weapons, or am I just wasting my time?  Well, not really wasting my time, cause it's fun, but I'm not getting anywhere.  I want to beat this ugly sucker.

Thanks.

You don't need to kill FIAT with an Ultimate Weapon, but it is worth your time...

So the ending is better wiht ultimate weapons?

I didn't like the current ending, it's a letdown for the game to end without your being able to play, but FIAT himself easily made up for that tiny flaw, and it's funny to watch Dink getting looted on shore.

Re: Are ultimate weapons necessary?
I didn't have ultimate weapons.  I took him out with one of the magics (not sure which) and throwing axe.  With the axe you can just bombard him from one of the sides.  Gets nasty though if one of the "voided" creatures escape through his mouth.   Good luck...

Re: Are ultimate weapons necessary?
I can't damage him at all, maybe I am attacking form the wrong angle, but I stepped into his mouth and started slashing... no effect.

Re: Are ultimate weapons necessary?
Nah, stay out of his mouth.  Think of him as 3 different parts.  Each part must die.  Save the middle for last.  Say anymore and I would ruin it.  Good luck...

Friggin FFVII ripoff!  I remember spending hours cutting up sephiroth's "bizzaro" incarnation.

Haha, weird.  I never played FFVII (except for the PC Demo) and I'm pretty sure the demo didn't include the monster you refer to.

How 'bout that? Square stole your idea. :O

Not playing many RPGs, I was at first mad when I learned that Square stole my idea of elements in RPGs with Chrono Cross... but George (who created Birth of an Empire) assured me I wasn't the first to think of elements as the focal point of RPGs.

You did the BEST job that I have seen with elements in an RPG.  Not overstated, but important enough to be fairly neccessary.
