How can I kill the earth knight?

The air knight was tough, but at least I can damage him at least 5 HP a shot. But I can at most damage the earth knight with either normal or air sword only 1 HP. Is there any trick?

Arm the fist and hit the rocks at him after they drop.

But you still have to smack (or blast) him too, even though it doesn't do anything, or he won't drop the rocks.
