You can buy another regular sword and elementalize it into an Earth Sword to help you battle the Water monsters, but you don't have to.

I went and bought the bow but forgot how the guy said to learn bow luck. It works good on the dragons the way it is but a bit of a struggle with the rest of the monsters.
