re: Boots crash - just for the record if anyone's still keeping track of these things, this is still an issue. I can't progress past the point where I need to buy the boots, I get the exact same "'dink' directory not found" error someone else mentioned. I'm playing on FreeDink, fwiw. Otherwise, seemed like a cool enough game so far. 
I'm sure it's some obscure little system-specific bug virtually nobody experiences - hateful how such simple dumb little things can ruin a perfectly good game. :-\
