Tomorrow might be a productive day (hahahaha). Anyway, I hope to create the rankings page soon. The rankings page would probably be updated every week or so, to keep the server load relatively light. A truly dynamic rankings page would probably take a very long time to load.
But before I can do the rankings page, I will move over the review scores into the files database. Currently every time you open up any Files list, it goes in and figures out the average review score right from the reviews. This makes it so you can't sort by review score, and would make the rankings go much slower. So I'm going to move that over, so soon you'll be able to sort the files by their review scores.
Lets see... everything else seems to be going relatively well. I still need to re-code the info.cgi to clean it up and optimize it one of these days.
Lastly, if you're making a huge D-Mod, release it soon
I leave for dial-up land in just over two weeks, so get your files out before then.Almost forgot, I'd like to welcome Tal to the Dink Network staff. Hopefully Ask Tal will turn out pretty cool... if it doesn't, we'll just have to go down to Tennessee and do some castratin'.
Special Announcement
I just recieved an interesting file attachment from Seth. It was a beta version of Dink Smallwood for the Gameboy Advance. I got out the trusty ol' Gameboy Advance Emulator and took a nice screenshot.
Seth noted on how simple conversion would be... the actual game window in Dink Smallwood is actually 600x400, where the pixels of the Gameboy Advance are 240x160. This is exactly a 40% reduction... making conversion a snap. Seth also said that there would be overlays for life and items, whereas the rest of the information (like experience, stats, etc.) would go into the Item's screen. Yes, this is a very late april fools day joke, but what the heck, I didn't think of it until today. This may turn out to be a really cool project, if he can find a publisher, it would be very cool. Too bad there wouldn't be any D-Mod support tho
Oddness
Have you ever felt as if you're on some sort of track that you can't get off no matter what? I feel that way. I had a 10 page American Civilization paper due on a Monday a few weeks ago... I started the Saturday evening before. I took frequent breaks. Indeed, I finished typing the last sentence 10 minutes before class started on Monday, and the stupid paper took 12 minutes to print out (so I was a little late for class). I didn't even proofread the paper... and I was planning on re-writing it so I could salvage my grade for the class. Then I got the paper back, and I didn't even look at it for two days. Then when a brief will of courage overtook me, I looked at the grade: A. I got a fricken A.
I just don't get it... its like my brain does things I can't comprehend in the slightest.
