Map
As you all ready know i suck in mapping a dink game so! can someone make a map for me??? for my New-D-Mod??
um!! Shur, but where
Can you make a map for me?? please
Once you get the hang of map making its actually the fun part!. If you realy don't feel comfortable with it you could also take over an "unfinished project" from the dmod link.
I have MANY unfinished projects, I guess you could take one of those off my hands...
But as Ric says, the mapping is really the easiest part to d-mod making, as well as being very fun!
Unless it's desert all the way... that's just a recipe for a headache.

ric, i freaking .HATE. mapping. thats the only reason AHP is not getting done. thats the reason why i have not released any good dmods in the 4 or 5 years i have been playing dink.
Yeah... mapping is tedious and boring. Go dialogue and scripting!

So that's why I haven't done that much after Blood Scorpions... if you don't count the half-finished D-Mod
But anyway, mapping could be a very nice part of D-Mod development, if you manage to get somewhat handy in doing it (and you get a good-looking result in the end). And nice scripting completes the D-Mod

The most boring thing about mapping is making water streams and sea. and to make small details on the beach for example. like set out shels etc, etc. quite boring
But they're the finishing touch to your D-Mod and can make it stand out of the rest
Forests are irritating as well! Lining up all those freakin' trees....
The creation of desert landscapes is a nightmare, as Simeon knows, and as I have been finding with CC2 (for the last 3-4 years!). It gets quite hard to think of new, inventive landmarks to place around.

Meh, I think I survived the desert hell quite well... that rhymes
and lets not forget how fun setting up the hardness for houses is.
I still gotte start on my own map Gonne make one with a friend...
mapping was indeed the most fun and even the easiest part of making dreamweaver. not that it's really that easy, but, if i were you i'd go ahead and try to learn how to do it. the learning process isn't that hard, especially with all the tutorials laying around.
with redinks hard.dat, house hardness is quite simple... however, before that... TOTAL pain. getting the hardness and que right for forests, however, is still a total pain.
Why dont use hard and invisible pigs on the houses, to make it hard?
I also dislike mapping. I'm more into the dialogue and scripting side of things.
What I hate the most about mapping is decorating and hardness placement. What I like doing is... Attaching scripts to sprites

Ey.... it is good that someone is agreeing with me that mapping is boring
But I am making a map anyway for my new D-Mod. This is going to be a looooooooong summer

For the decorations I just set a bunch of them up correctly on one screen then go around and plop them down.
Tiles are pretty much the same way, I make one screen with all the tiles I need on it and then move it around when I need it.
Had to do a "lift" of the eastern isalnds from the original Dink, for PortTown. Still had to do major rework on the details since much of it was incomplete.
