I'm hyped already
The name of the series is:
An Ancient Voice.
the name of this Dmod is therefore:
An Ancient Voice I
A Tale Of Four Sorrows
Since this I am hyped, I will reveal most of the storyline I have planned
Dink Smallwood is (as always) strangely teleported to a strange land by a strange wizard king, who promises to return him home if he helps him fight and defeat the other 3 kings. The four kings all fight for control of a village, which is in between their lands. The village is often pillaged and is not at all profited by the closing of roads. Everyone is tired of the endless struggle and wants the war to end.
The Northern king is the 'legal' owner of the village since his castle traditionally protects the village. He is old and worn, and his side is not doing well, he fears what will happen to his family if he is defeated.(This role is cast by: Old man)
The Eastern king is a warlord, who sees the village as a crossroads, which will allow him to expand into other lands. His army is vast but is far from home and tired. he is ruthless and cares not for the lives of anyone in his army or the village, as long as it gets him victorious.(this role is cast by: Milder)
The Southern 'king' Is a necromancer who lives in a swamp. He seeks victims to enlarge his large, but dumb undead army.(role cast by: grey wizard)
The Western 'King' is an illusionist, who managed to trick his army into following him. He is a trickster and a good actor.(role cast by: King Daniel)
Amongst this stands Dink! A fearless pig farmer turned hero
He needs to choose a king who can help him find a way home. And discover what is that white voice in his head. the only person with a white voice he remembers is the ancient Seth...
And he needs to find a home for the little baby he finds while in a mission for the king he chooses.
at the start of the game, he escapes the castle of the western king who teleported him there. He can return to the castle, or venture into the other kings' land, some of them might be more worthy of dink's heroism.
Depending on the king chosen, dink must complete certain quests in order for his king to win, and possibly send him home.
There is only one Quest shared by all kingdoms, although the ending differs with each king. In this quest, dink finds a baby, whose parents were murdered. He must find a suitable family for this creature Dink finds himself loving.
At the ending of the game the ending message will be presented according to his kingdom.
If he chose the Northern kingdom he must find his way home alone, but he is sure that the baby will remain loved and safe with the king's daughter and son-in-law.
If he chose the Eastern kingdom, he is taken home in a boat, but is afraid for leaving the baby to the warlord's protection
If he chose the Southern king, he is killed and made undead.
If he chose the western king, he is sent back home, during transportation, the baby is taken away from him.
That is the story line.
Here are a few extras:
~I plan to make every common sprite(even grass) examinable. the talk message will change with the music playing at that moment. The music will change with the story line. I have an idea on how to do this, but if someone has a clear knowledge how, please tell me.
~Dink swallows a fly!
~Some kingdoms will be quest sized, some epic. the southern one is even a romp!

That would require some moderately clever scripting. I can explain how I would do that in more detail later if you wish. But it means that every screen that requires a midi will need to launch the same script (perhaps music.c) that checks a global (probably &story) to determine what midi to play. The same variable can be used for a universal script (perhaps talkgras.c) to contain what the clumps of grass should say.

the northern lands has got one hidden in the forest, one of my unfinished pieces of crap in triple trouble has one on martridge's shelf.
There's no D-Mod with horse graphics or even a development file containing it there. Skurn is referring to My Little Pony horses, I doubt you want those. There are horse sprites that can fit Dink here, but you will need to convert those to a format Dink can use. If you want Dink to ride a horse, I can't really help you, that would require making entirely new 3D models.

This is apparently a known bug of zeleton
i downloaded a new map.dat
and replaced it.
(yes i deleted the 490 GiB one)
only lost about eight screens.
I kept all scripts.
expect a new Demo tomorrow.

I'm not aware of any such file. I tried to make one with WinDinkedit, but even with mouse support that was teadious. I don't know who uses FreeDinkedit other than yeoldetoast or SlipDink. But if you don't know how to do it, I'm sure they can explain. If the issue is that creating a new screen causes a bug, you are likely stuck.

So, RangerLord can certainly be forgiven in asserting that I am a user of FreeDinkEdit (on Linux or any other platform).
Actually, though I started out using FreeDinkEdit, I quickly gave it up. Next I used WinDinkEditPlus2 on WinMe Windoze (on my dual booting desktop, where for every other purpose, I ran Linux).
Later, I switched to using WinDinkEditPlus2 on Wine(*) from WineHQ on my Linux partition. I strongly recommend it for any other Linux user.

first i am replacing every tile by grass.
later, I will hack and slash every sprite

then I will make every screen non interior and non midi

yeah, a blank full map sounds like the best fix if you're gonna be makin something on freedinkedit.

The final version of my Epic:
An Ancient Voice I
A tale of four sorrows.
Dink is in a dream, a nightmare from his deepest fears. And when he wakes, his entire world is changed.
His settled life replaced by deeply bizzare madness, and a strange white voice on his head...
Almost infinite gameplay, It took me about 7 hours to play from one end to the other. And that was only the first playthough. many alternate storylines converge to give Dink the hardest and most engaging adventure yet.
Thanks to everyone who answered my questions in Discord and TDN, without you this would be but a discarded piece of map in an equally abandoned dmod folder.
I used superwolfman's button pack! greatly useful!

I decided to make a log, so that I can share my madness.
First log entry.
I have been working on An Ancient Voice I: A Tale Of Four Sorrows for a few weeks, and with big help from everyone in TDN and beyond(specially SlipDink) have managed to set myself up:
I have a Big Empty Map, since my FreeDinkEdit makes my map horrendously large.
I have the music system (hopefully) working.
I have 71 scripts(three of which are only planned.)
I have a Demo! The first Dream.
I have 34 midis, might add more.
I have a nice title screen. Made my own title, taking the Dink smallwood sign from SOB, and changing the title. I took Superwolfman's button pack and recolorized it.
And great hopes!
Day one:
Made a full day of work placing invicible sprites(type 15):facepalm:
Hope this is not a bad omen.
Day six:
Bad omens indeed. Due to procrastination and RL things, i havent worked on ATOFS.
Today i fixed the invicible sprites, and discovered that on day -1 i had placed a whole day of sprites with the savebot script. *SIGH*. I cant fix this even if i change the script name from savebot to savebots. weird.
I kinda forgot this txt file for the last weeks. I built most of the map, got all base scripts worked out. still haven't done any of the storylines.
I made the first part of the game, before everything splits up. added a nice new spells for pyromaniacs, pretty common hyper fire thing, but i hope it has a nice spin to it. hehe.
Ugh, the spell is no good, foud an instance where it crashes the game.
Fixed, just forgot some unfrezes() around the spell.
Added yet another .midi, not sure if i will even use all of them.
made the first part of the first storyline.
made a new section of the map, where the middle of the first storyline happens, a bit big but meh.
Damn I again forgot to update a few days. I finished the first storyline, then mostly remade it again. the 'new' part of the map is not used, might use it for storyline 2.
Nope, Im not going to use that part of the map for the second storyline, since i already finished it and is my favorite one of all four. not gonna change it.
part three is halfawy done. I used the 'useless new' part of the map.
Added a secret path to a secret ending.
Added some kind of invisibility spell. Also a whole village seems deaf as they cant hear dink smashing their houses and walking next to them. hmm artistic license.
part three finished. added the pig secret.
im having real trouble with storyline four.
I split it into two, with similar endings, although one leaves dink happy, the other one doesnt...
