Dmod story idea; tell about your life.

As we can see, the stories of most dmods are more like of expansions of dink's adventure, with further plot twists, and absolutely unrelated stuff with the original story.

What if you make a dmod with a story about your life!
I suggest if the story will be about your daily routines, tasks, and misc stuff,
including the people you are with most of the time, and what you do with them.

No, he meant that the dmod "sour gummy worms" is basically what you've described. which is a joke.

It's nice that you are trying hard to come up with some new and unique ideas for dmods. However, I think that this idea, while well intended, represents a strikingly dull idea. We play adventure games because we want to do something exciting and out of the ordinary, not boring and humdrum like going to work or school, getting married, advancing your career, etc.

I suggest if the story will be about your daily routines, tasks, and misc stuff,
including the people you are with most of the time, and what you do with them.

IMHO this would be as uninteresting as one could imagine. Most of us do no live lives of adventure and heroism, fight monsters and serious evils, etc.

But, if you think you can prove me wrong Exzcimus, make such a dmod yourself.

Yeah, I was just wondering about what could be the lives of our fellow dinkers.
And yes, you stand correct. Straight, it seems like making a dmod story that most probably the author only will completely understand.

But I still believe that there are geniuses capable of effectively connecting us into their deepest and most expressive self by uttering, (in the form of DinkC and dmod programming), their philosophies in experiences in life. Geniuses who are of free will, mind and soul in creating their masterpieces which touch our very hearts in fire.

Damn straight, some dmod stories are filled with someone's jokes which sometimes make me think "why do they have these mindsets?", and the answer must be given when they open up with their life story.

The point I was trying to make was not so much whether or not it would be "understood", it was whether or not it would be fun to play.

Hmmm. I'm not sure about what you are wishing for here. Nothing has stopped any dmod author from creating "(in the form of DinkC and dmod programming), their philosophies in experiences in life.". In fact, many dmod authors have told us something about themselves and their values when they tell us stories. All good stories are (at least in part) about the human condition. We want to be told something about our fellow humans. So, pieces of interests, jokes, and other quality story elements (liberally mixed with fun and adventure!) do this already in some of the best dmods. I hope to do it (at least a bit) in all of the dmods I create.

Would I like to see more of this type of good story telling mixed with fun adventure too? Certainly! Personally, I think we all would like that.

Damn straight, some dmod stories are filled with someone's jokes which sometimes make me think "why do they have these mindsets?", and the answer must be given when they open up with their life story.

I still think that the idea of embedding an ordinary life story in a dmod would be dull. Shakespeare wrote plays that were stories of humor and wit and very astute observations of the human condition, plus a wide assortment of characters we can not help but care about, due to his story telling skills. But IMHO, Shakespeare would be unknown if he only wrote plays about his domestic life and his attempts to make a living as a playwright.

Yeah, informal autobiography in a story will suck.
Thanks for making me realize though.

If it was dramatized and focused enough it could be good, but it would be a true challenge. It may be easier to make a Dmod about someone else who lived an exceptional life rather than an autobiography (especially if it's a "based on" a true story kind of deal where you can make changes as needed).

I can't say that I agree with you, unless you so substantially stretch the definition of "tell about your life" by dramatizing it to the point where you "make changes as needed". At that point it is NO LONGER a story about your life, but rather it is an exciting fantasy "based on" you life.

Go ahead and make one for us to play!

It would need a theme, and that theme would need to be interesting. That's what it would come down to. It wouldn't literally be an exact retelling of your life. Something like the book The Art of Learning by Josh Waitzkin except in D-mod form, where the autobiography aspect of the story is used to push forward something very important you'd like to teach or tell your players.

Go ahead and make one for us to play!

I'm currently already slowly working on a different kind of Dmod, and a standalone game outside of Dink as well, so I doubt I'll get to that any time soon. But never say never, it's a cool idea and I could make a small project based on that idea someday.

Change is constant, but Constants do not change.
An interesting autobiography doesn't need to tell of a person who lived an exceptional life, or became a public figure of success, or an individual who was widely famous, or a ridiculously filthy rich... thief (which happens to be a kleptomaniac).

Everytime I go to a library or a bookstore, I look for classic philosophy books, I sometimes see biographies about famous people in history. But I know a few people who lived a more challenging and awesome life where in some aspect they have proven themselves more resilient and indefinitely flexible than some of the famous people's living. Although they did not render any influential contributions that could be honored.

However, "autobiographies" are written in a self-styled manner of perception. In that way, we'll be able to understand how they think about things.

@Thenewguy

Make yours truly an original viewpoint, and it will be interesting.
