NOTE: i have only used blender for like a week, so yeah, they suck...well, i think they are pretty cool, but yeah, im getting there. i also found out how to render in oblique mode, so i can use pictures for dink... i can feel the creative juices flowing allready...

Check to see if you've smoothed the meshes before rendering - I think the lamp wasn't... and maybe parts of the spaceship. In the edit window (the one you get by clicking on the square/four vertices mesh icon) there is a smooth button down the bottom, left of centre. Hit with the mesh selected. The other thing you can do is convert to sub-division surfaces - these are create for organic modelling - this button is left from the smooth button. I think there's a seem visible with some of the objects you lathed. You might try selecting two vertices that a nearly aligned, hit s for scale and hold down the control key as you scale them down... this will place them ontop of each other. Then hit the remove doubles button (RHS of the edit window). But be aware of the no undo function (except for the fact if you're in edit mode you can hit "U" and restore the mesh back to where it was before you went into edit mode.

As for me being the master. Thanks, but I'm not. There are some amazing artists using blender out there. If you've got the time. Check out the finished works forum on www.elysiun.com ... and find stuff done by richardie (shroom goddess), and harkyman (he's done this incredible chrome/mechanical spider). And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

For tutorials... there's a list of most of the old blender site tutorials mirrored at ingiebee's site: www.ingiebee.com/tutorials.htm I think the first one I did was a hammer thing (which was written before sub-divison surfaces became part of blender) then the make a castle and texture it.

Good luck!
