Dink on speedrun.com
I don't speedrun Dink or any other games, but I watch speedrunners a lot, and I noticed Dink isn't on speedrun.com. It's one of the main sites for the speedrunning community. The main feature is leaderboards for each game. I know there are at least a couple of Dink speedrunners, so I was going to request that the site add the game so people could put their runs there, but it turns out the site would make me the moderator of the Dink leaderboards (see the notice here).
So I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in being in charge of the Dink section of that site. If so, they could request the game themselves, or I could do it and (I've heard) make them a mod.
If not, it's no big deal. I just thought it would be nice to have Dink represented there.

As useful as it looks, I don't think a community as small as ours needs to put Dink on there. It's not like anyone plans on beating a record anytime soon(except for me). Probably the next speedrun after that will happen in like....5-6 years.
But, it's redink's decision.

i love speedruns but one issue would be what version of dink would you consider official for a speedrun record ?
That's the real question... There's a significant difference between 1.07 and 1.08, 1.07 is quite a bit faster as there are more hardness glitches to be abused (probably) and the speed at which the game runs is somewhat dependend on processor speed. So with a fast processor 1.07 definitely runs faster than 1.08, but it is also less representative as the speed of the run then also depends on the speed of your computer...
Generally you should probably take the most recent version, but the community is a bit split up in whether they use 1.08, 1.09 (dinkHD) or freedink...

Yeah specially when dink HD is the last official release and has a speed up button
There could always be multiple versions, look at some of the games, they have a 'No Major Glitches Run' and the opposite.
Well, what's the most popular version for speedrunning? That would probably be a good starting point to go from.
the kind that sucks the enjoyment out of the game the best probably.

That seems like a big issue. Does anyone know how other PC game speedruns handle this?

Someone got Dink added to the site, so you can submit your runs: https://www.speedrun.com/Dink_Smallwood
