1991 - Sonic the Hedgehog
1992 - Wolfenstein 3D
1992 - Sonic the Hedgehog 2
1993 - Doom 1
1994 - Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles
1994 - Doom 2
1996 - Duke Nukem 3D
1996 - Quake
1996 - Crash Bandicoot
1997 - Final Fantasy 7
1997 - Age of Empires
1998 - Pokémon Red/Blue
1998 - Half-Life
1998 - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
1999 - Sonic Adventure
(Some date may be off a year or two, it's mostly from memory. But it's a good enough ball park.)
Among many others. These games were genre defining or otherwise just epic, and far better than most games that came out in any year afterward. And BTW I was born in 1993.

Halo is the second most overrated series ever, behind CoD. Age of Mythology was a ripoff clone of Age of Empires, a far better game. Gears of War isn't that great in my opinion.
The best game you listed is Portal. The rest of your list just can't compare to the simplicity and elegance of most of the games I mentioned. The limited design and bigger constraints meant more spectacular results, more ingenuity and innovation which gave a higher quality to the games. Simple was better back in the day, and it worked.

It was a Spinoff not a ripoff altthough i will agree that AOE2 was the best one.
Crash Bandicoot and Spyro were crap it was one of the reasons why the 90s sucked
